As we approach 2016, technical hiring continues to grow. A recent study found that almost 80 percent of hiring managers are planning to hire more technical employees in the first half of 2016, and over 71 percent of those surveyed are growing their team by at least 11 percent. 

Despite the increase of hiring potential in the upcoming year, hiring managers across the country are finding that hiring talent for these openings is taking longer. A talent crisis in technology has been growing as more companies are seeking to grow their technical departments, but the pool of candidates not growing as rapidly. Companies are looking for experienced talent; 27 percent of hiring managers are seeking hires at entry-level, but 62 percent are seeking hires with at least two to five years of experience.  

How are these companies enticing top, experienced talent to make the switch to their company? Many have found that adding additional benefits to the hiring perks will attract top candidates. Over half of companies surveyed are offering in-job perks, such as free lunches and fitness memberships. Additional perks being that are being offered to top candidates include sign-on bonuses, company cars or mobile devices, free medical and dental insurance, relocation costs and unlimited vacation days. 

Are these benefits helping? Many hiring managers think that these additional perks are worth it. Other companies have found that simply increasing salaries is the best way to attract top talent. Many companies are still giving counteroffers to retain their technical staff, but the additional benefits may assist in enticing the job switch.
